In order to understand how to use the Cursed Gear to unlock new Powerful Spells for PvP and PvE and increase your Combat Rating by thousands first we need to understand what are Cursed Items.

Cursed Legendary Items are the latest addition to the game in which players use specific Legendary Items to furthermore increase their stats and unlock brand new Spells to assist them both in PvP (player vs. player) and PvE (player vs. enemy) related activities.

Cursed Gear Explained

Blizzard released the Age of Falling Towers, the third major content update for 2023, during the midst of Diablo Immortal’s Season 11 (new tab) . The update introduces a large amount of new content, including Cursed Gear.

Cursed Gear are a new type of Set Items that affects the main Legendary Items —Head, Chest, Weapon, Off-Hand, Pants and Shoulders. They look different from a normal Item and can be distinguished by an orange border around the Legendary Item.

Cursed Items unlock powerful Spells upon having 2 to 6 of the same Set using the Curse Set Properties. Each Cursed Item has two cursed properties - one Positive and one Negative. These items are designed to provide players with powerful bonuses, but at the expense of a penalty. The objective is to present players with more opportunities to create new builds.

Equipping more than one Cursed Item with the same Positive Property will make them more powerful and decrease their cooldown. Other than Cursed Properties, all the Cursed Items are exactly the same as any other Legendary Item in Diablo Immortal.

Positive or Negative Cursed Property only activates when you have equipped at least two items with the same Positive Cursed Property. For example:

  • Item A

    • Positive [Detested]: Create a dark void beneath you that lasts for 6 seconds when you use a control skill. Enemies take 24% of your damage every second. 60 seconds cooldown.

    • Negative: Damage dealt by your summons reduced by 4%.

  • Item B

    • Positive: Your summoning skills have a chance to release a demonic roar dealing 130% damage to nearby enemies.

    • Negative: Damage dealt is reduced by 4% for 1 second after defeating an enemy.

If you have both of these equipped, you’ll have their positive effect, but also both of the negative effects (damage dealt by your summons reduced by 4% and damage dealt is reduced by 4% for 1 second after defeating an enemy). On the other hand equipping more than one Cursed Item with the same Positive Property will make them more powerful and decrease their cooldown

Where to find Cursed Items

Cursed Items can drop from any location in Diablo Immortal’s Sanctuary. This means that you can farm your favourite spots, as you would normally do for Legendary items.

It is recommended to Join a Clan to get more Cursed Items by participating in the Accursed Towers event. Here, you can collect Cursed Shards and obtain Cursed Items in PvE matches.

Lastly, compete in Accursed Towers matches, whether fighting to claim or defend your Clan's tower, for a guaranteed opportunity to receive a Cursed Item.

Unlock New Powerful Spells for PvP and PvE

Consider Cursed Items in Diablo Immortal as items with two sides. They offer both positive and negative effects, and when you equip more of them, the positive effect becomes stronger at the fourth and sixth pieces.".

Diablo Immortal Cursed Items Example:

Positive Properties

  • Create an Illusion when you use a Buff skill. The illusion takes a portion of your incoming damage.

  • When your summons enter the battlefield, you deal AoE damage to nearby enemies.

  • Create a damage over time area on the ground when using a Control skill, that last for 6 seconds.

  • After you kill an enemy, release a chain lightning damage that jumps between nearby enemies

Negative Properties

  • Damage dealt by summons reduces by 4%

  • Size and Life reduced by 1%

  • Damage dealt is reduced by 4% for 1 seconds after defeating an enemy.

How to Change the Curse/Bonus effect

In case you are wondering if there is a way to change the effect on your newly acquired items, there is only one answer for that: —Yes, and it’s free, sort of.

Changing the Curse Property on Cursed Items in Diablo Immortal is similar to changing Essences on Legendary Items. The only actual difference here is that you do it using The Blacksmith and it requires Purification Shards.

In order to change the bonus, head over to any Blacksmith. Find the Curse Purifiying. Next, select your desired Cursed Gear and click or tap Purifying. Following up, you will be prompted with a new screen Curse Property Purification where you can choose the new attribute or keep the old one in case you don’t like what you have rolled. Every purification costs 1x Purification Shards. Please see the pictures below for referrence.
